Want to make Enamel tipped Headpins!

in the most recent Christi's neighborhood project, she had one enamel tipped headpin as one of the materials.
But I noticed these are very hard to come by and also very very expensive.

so naturally, I thought why not make some myself?
and discovered this free tutorials.

Sounds like I need a blow torch.
This tutorial asks for "Map-gas Torch"  what is that?

I'll need Copper wire in 18 or 24 gage to make a headpin.  and then coat it with the enamel.
Maybe I'll skip the whole making the ball headed headpin part and just buy them...

so far it sounds very exciting, but it just dawned to me that maybe I should use any flames in my tiny New York City apartment.....

October project from Christi's Neighborhood

October project has been made.
The ginkgo leaves were fun!
I liked the way Christi made it ripple so I did that too.
And the flower buttons are just adorable.

Droopy Heart Earrings

This was also part of my daughters costume.
Each droop has a head pin inside to secure it in place.
I expected this to be dropped a few times and it hasn't broken off yet.
However, it did crack.... But it's still in its place securely drooping.

Loving the Process

I enjoy making things.
Anything.

I particularly love the process.  I enjoy each step of the way, I love thinking about how and what to try.
SO often times as soon as it's done making, I lose total interest in the object.

The projects will pile up and just collect dust.
I guess I should sell.....

So when I know there is a use after the end of the tunnel, it makes me feel very good.
Such as this costumes.  it has a purpose from the beginning.

Perhaps I should be thinking that more often.

Costume End Result

Halloween was a success!
The voodoo doll dress came out great and my daughter was very a happy child.

Halloween Costume

My daughter wanted a $70 costume but I was not going to spend that kind a money on cloths you wear for a day.
So I made one.
This is her drawing based on the style she saw in s catalogue

Purchaed some materials.  Nothing fancy.

Cut out the patterns.

Halfway done.

And tada!!

There will be more details added

O pods! Pearly rings

Saw this necklace on Christi's site and I wanted it.  So I thought I'll mimic.
It's a copy totally.  I hope she's ok with it since I don't plan to sell it.
It's for me to wear.
I'll need to gather my pearl beads to string them.
